Shenzhou 20's return capsule landed at Dongfeng at 09:34 Beijing time on January 19, 2026. CMSE reported generally normal external condition and sound returned cargo. The spacecraft had undocked at 00:23 and returned without a crew. Launched in April 2025, it postponed its November return after suspected small-debris damage to a window and remained in orbit for tests. Its 270-day stay demonstrated roughly nine months of docking capability. The crew had already returned under the revised plan, so this landing was not a new crew homecoming. Shenzhou 21 astronauts had photographed the window externally to assess the cracks. A mitigation device delivered through an emergency launch was installed inside to improve thermal protection and sealing during return. Simulation, testing and contingency decisions preceded the flight. CMSE said the main tasks of this space-station emergency response were complete following the return. The 2025 events supply background only; this archive item covers the new January 19, 2026 uncrewed return without creating separate older news or confusing spacecraft and crew identities.
